Domaine Drouhin Oregon Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2022

750ml

94 points, Robert Parker

The 2022 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills has pure, layered scents of cranberry, forest floor, licorice, bitters and tea leaves. The medium-bodied palate is concentrated and nuanced. It’s structured by dusty tannins and mouthwatering acidity and has a long, spicy finish.

"They were the first Burgundians in Oregon, and like all trailblazers they found it hard. Thirty years later, Veronique Drouhin is producing some of the finest American Pinot and Chardonnay"

Tasting Profile

  • Body: Medium-bodied
  • Tannins: Fine-grained, well-integrated and refined tannins providing a polished mouthfeel.
  • Acidity: High, bright acidity that provides a mouth-watering "crunch" and excellent aging potential.
  • Sweetness: Dry

Tasting Notes: The 2022 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir focuses the complexity of the vintage into a radiant, red ruby hue. The nose is a tight and delightful gathering of tart cherries, peony, pomegranate, red fruits, and wood spice, leading to similar flavors on the palate. Balanced and clear acidity points towards the wine's customary elegance and longevity. Well-rounded and loveable.

Discover the Winery: Domaine Drouhin Oregon

In 1987, Robert Drouhin was invited to participate in the first International Pinot Noir Celebration, and on that trip, he decided to purchase land in the Dundee Hills region of Oregon. Where there had only been Christmas trees and wheat, the Drouhin's began planting their first vineyards in Oregon. At the same time, Robert nominated Véronique to be the newly christened Domaine Drouhin Oregon (DDO) winemaker, and her brother Philippe Drouhin took responsibility for viticulture. In 1988, DDO produced its first vintage, from purchased grapes, and in 1989 built the landmark, four-story gravity flow winery. Situated atop the Dundee Hills, between 400' to 800' in elevation, the site was selected for its remarkable similarity in climate, latitude and aspect to the legendary vineyards of Burgundy. From what started as test plantings of cloned Pinot Noir rootstock, Domaine Drouhin now encompasses 124 acres of hillside vineyards. Interspersed with the Pinot Noir vines are 11 acres of Chardonnay, planted at various elevations and, like in Burgundy, planted right alongside rows of Pinot Noir.
